Over the holiday weekend Internet and phone services provided by Sierra Nevada Communications on Saturday evening through Sunday morning were interrupted by an outage from the utility carrier bringing backhaul Internet service into Tuolumne County communities. The previous outage in August was a direct result of the Washington fire in Sonora. No report has been provided to Sierra Nevada Communications as to the exact causes of the AT&T outages. These two outages inconvenienced hundreds of Tuolumne County residents and businesses.
Sierra Nevada Communications services were functioning normally. However, with no connection to the outside world, businesses and residents were unable to surf their favorite sites, programs and get their emails.
Tuolumne county is a rural community and has limited resources available for its residents. SNC strives to provide the best service possible working within these limitations.
