What Does Sierra Nevada Communications Do with Your Personal Information?

At Sierra Nevada Communications, your security and privacy are our top priority. We are committed to protecting your personal information and handling it responsibly in accordance with applicable laws, including federal regulations from the Federal Communications Commission (FCC). This Privacy Notice explains how we collect, use, share, and protect your personal information when you apply for or use our communications services.

1. Information We Collect and Use

To provide and manage your services effectively, we collect certain personal information from you. This typically includes:

  • Your full name
  • Service address
  • Email address
  • Telephone number
  • Government-issued license or identification (where required for service qualification)
  • Social Security Number (for credit checks or regulatory requirements)
  • Financial or payment information (such as billing details or payment method)

We collect this information directly from you through your service application, order forms, or during account setup and management. We only collect what is necessary to deliver, bill for, and support your services.

2. How We Use Your Personal Information

We use your information primarily to:

  • Process your application and activate services
  • Provide, maintain, and improve our communications services
  • Bill you accurately and process payments
  • Communicate with you about your account, service updates, or support issues
  • Comply with legal and regulatory obligations

We do not use your information for unrelated purposes without a valid reason or your consent where required.

3. Personal Information We May Share or Disclose

We share your personal information only when necessary and as permitted by law. We do not sell your personal information or share it with third parties for marketing purposes.

We may disclose your information to:

  • Governmental agencies or regulatory authorities when required by law (e.g., for compliance, subpoenas, or emergency situations)
  • Service providers or contractors who assist us in operating our business (e.g., billing processors or technical support vendors), under strict confidentiality agreements

These parties are obligated to use your information only for the purposes we specify and to protect it appropriately.

4. Customer Proprietary Network Information (CPNI)

Customer Proprietary Network Information (CPNI) is sensitive information about your use of our telecommunications services, such as the types of services you subscribe to, call details (e.g., numbers called, frequency, duration, and timing of calls), usage patterns, and related billing information. This is protected under federal law (Section 222 of the Communications Act and FCC rules).

The protection of your CPNI is important to us. You have a right, and we have a duty, under federal law, to protect the confidentiality of your CPNI.

We use and disclose CPNI only as permitted by law:

  • To provide and bill for the services you subscribe to
  • For purposes directly related to those services (e.g., fraud prevention, network operations)
  • To our affiliates if you subscribe to multiple service categories from us

We do not use or disclose your CPNI to market services or products you do not already subscribe to, or to third parties outside our company, without your approval.

If we ever seek to use or disclose your CPNI for additional purposes (such as marketing communications-related services you do not currently have), we will provide you with clear notice and an opportunity to approve or restrict such use. You may opt out of certain uses of your CPNI at any time at no cost by contacting our customer service team at 209-588-9601 (available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, through phone, or other methods we make available). Your choice will remain in effect until you change it.

We maintain safeguards to protect CPNI from unauthorized access, use, or disclosure, including authentication procedures before disclosing CPNI during customer contacts.

In the unlikely event of a breach involving your CPNI or related personal information, we will notify you and relevant authorities as required by FCC rules.

5. How We Protect Your Personal Information

We take the security of your information seriously. We maintain strict controls over access to your data, including:

  • Limiting access to authorized employees who have a legitimate business need
  • Requiring those employees to adhere to confidentiality obligations
  • Implementing technical and administrative safeguards consistent with industry standards

While no system is completely immune to risks, we strive to protect your information from unauthorized access, use, or disclosure.

6. Your Rights and Choices

You have the right to:

  • Access and review your personal information
  • Correct any inaccuracies
  • Restrict certain uses of your CPNI (as described above)

To exercise these rights, please contact our customer service team at 209-588-9601. We will respond promptly and verify your identity as needed.

If you have questions about this notice or our practices, feel free to reach out to us. This notice may be updated from time to time. We encourage you to review it periodically.
